Requirements For Making A New SIM 2023, Check What Files Must Be Attached

YOGYAKARTA - Driving license (SIM) is an important card that must be owned by every motorcyclist in Indonesia. The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police has just issued a new regulation in making SIMs. There are conditions for making a new SIM that must be met by people who want to make a SIM.

Korlantas Polri issued a new regulation on the manufacture of SIM as stated in Perpol Number 2 of 2023 concerning Amendments to Indonesian National Police Regulation Number 5 of 2021 concerning Issuance and Marking of Driving Permits. The regulation began to be released on February 17, 2023.

So what are the requirements for making a new SIM that must be equipped by people who want to make a SIM?

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has signed a new SIM creation rule issued on February 8, 2023. Article 9 paragraphs 3 and 3a contains an explanation that every applicant making a SIM must include a photocopy of a driving certificate.

SIM applicants are required to attach a certificate issued by accredited driving education and training, no later than 6 months after its issuance. Applicants are asked to show the original file as an administrative requirement for the issuance of a SIM.

" Attach a letter of verification of driving competence issued by accredited driving schools. Individual SIM applicants who do not attend education and driving training or study on their own," reads paragraph 3a.

Individual applicants can apply for verification documents issued by driving schools. This statement applies to drivers who do not undergo driving training or self-driving learning.

"After that, the education and driving training certificates and the verification results of driving competencies as referred to in paragraph (1) letter a number 3 and number 3a are recorded in the database as part of the National Police Korlantas SIM database," reads paragraph 3b.

Regarding when the new rules for making a SIM will be enforced, the police have not been able to confirm it. Currently, the police are making thorough preparations for the implementation of the new regulation by involving cross-directorates.

The existence of the new regulation allows SIM applicants to get enlightenment before conducting a theoretical test. Applicants can gain insight into laws and regulations in traffic midwives, how to drive motorized vehicles, basic technicalities, traffic procedures, and traffic accidents.
