The Launch Of Pre-Work Cards Will Begin In Jabodetabek April 2020

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko said the Pre-Work Card is targeted to be launched in April 2020. The plan is that the Pre-Work Card will start from the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas.

"We started from Jabodetabek, after that we immediately got feedback, from that feedback we immediately fixed it and continued directly to other areas," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 18.

Apart from Jabodetabek, the launch of the magic card will also begin in West Java province. He mentioned that the reason for the launching in Jabodetabek and West Java was because of the large number of job seekers in the region.

After observing and evaluating, the launch of the Pre-Work Card is planned to be developed to other areas in Java, including East Java and Central Java.

"The development is fast, Jabodetabek and West Java are the first, after that it immediately spreads," he said.

He added that the implementation of the Pre-Work Card is also not waiting for the discussion of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation at the DPR, but just waiting for the presidential regulation.

"As soon as possible, this February, the Presidential Decree will be issued, March preparations and April will start," he added.

Even so, Moeldoko admits that the government has not been able to guarantee that the target of participants in the Pre-Work Card program, which reaches two million people, is directly absorbed in the world of work.

The government, he said, cannot control the labor market. However, he continued, the government wanted to ensure that job seekers had the skills that the business world needed so that they could be absorbed by the world of work or create new jobs.

The government is targeting as many as two million Pre-Work Card participants with the benefits received will receive training worth IDR 3 million-7 million from the total budget of IDR 10 trillion in 2020.

The government has prepared around 60 types of training for participants in the Pre-Employment Card program to support the enhancement of skills and skills of job seekers.

Deputy III of the Presidential Staff Office Denni P Purbasari explained that the training started from information technology, language to culinary delights. "IT (Information Technology) is mostly needed in Jakarta," he said.

Apart from this type of training, there are also photography, treatment therapists, sewing, security guards, work security and safety, consumption fish farming, hydroponics, entrepreneurship and truck drivers.

According to him, the unemployment rate in Indonesia is estimated at around seven million people and the workforce annually reaches 2.8 million people based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

He explained that of the seven million unemployed, 52 percent were aged 18-24 years. Meanwhile, the workforce, he continued, of the 2.8 million people per year, 88 percent of them are in urban areas.

"As many as 65 percent have high school education and the equivalent and 28 percent are diplomas," he said.
