JAKARTA - The issue of Akhyar Nasution, who has long served as the acting mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, is now being discussed by the Medan DPRD. Akhyar in fact is contesting the results of the Medan Pilkada to the Constitutional Court (MK), with his status as Acting Mayor of Medan.

Akhyar Nasution is one of the hundreds of candidates for the 2020 Pilkada from the hundreds of candidate pairs who are contesting the election results. The Medan Pilkada itself is known to have been won by President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son-in-law Bobby Nasution who is paired with Gerindra politician, Aulia Rachman.

For information, the Constitutional Court (MK) has started a preliminary examination of the dispute over the results of the 2020 simultaneous regional elections from Tuesday, January 26 to March 24. There are 132 cases of dispute over Pilkada results including the spotlight Pilkada in Medan which will be handled by the Constitutional Court.

Dzulmi Eldin, who previously served as Mayor of Medan, was sentenced to 6 years in prison in a corruption case. Dzulmi Eldin, who did not file an appeal, was then executed by the KPK at Tanjung Gusta Prison because his case was legally binding.

For Suwandi who is also the Deputy of the Akhyar-Salman Alfarisi (AMAN) Winning Team, the definitive mayoral decree is important so that Akhyar can freely work to lead Medan City with full authority.

The candidate pair for Medan mayor-deputy mayor Akhyar Nasution-Salman Alfarisi challenged the results of the Medan Regional Election to the Constitutional Court (MK). From the KPU recapitulation results, Akhyar-Salman lost in the Medan Regional Head Election to candidate candidate Bobby Nasution-Aulia Rachman.

"Yes, it was just registered with the Constitutional Court and received at 19.55 WIB" said Deputy Chairman of the Akhyar-Salman (AMAN) Winning Team, Gelmok Samosir, Friday, December 18.

Akhyar Nasution's team included a number of evidences when registering the Medan Pilkada election result dispute lawsuit to the Constitutional Court. There are 8 points that are the main focus of Akhyar-Salman.

"There are allegations of inflated votes and voters who do not match the local ID cards. It will be tested with the evidence we have," explained Gelmok.

However, Gelmok said that the submission of a lawsuit against the results of the Medan Regional Election to the Constitutional Court did not see the results of the recapitulation that was announced by the Medan KPU. However, the AMAN team saw that many things in the Medan Pilkada were outside the norm of propriety.

"We ask the plenary recapitulation of the Medan KPU to be canceled and to carry out a re-vote in 15 districts," he said.

Based on the results of the recapitulation held by the Medan KPU, Bobby-Aulia won 393,327 votes compared to 342,580 votes for the candidate pair Akhyar Nasution-Salman Alfarisi.
