The Death Of A USU Student Mahira And Potas Poison That Is Still A Mystery

Medan Police are still investigating the death of a student at the University of North Sumatra (USU), Mahira (19) at the victim's house in Medan City, North Sumatra.

Police are still investigating the mystery of the death of USU student, Mahira.

"Based on a series of investigations, the police still suspect that this case committed suicide," said Medan Police Chief Kombes Valentino Alfa Tatareda as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 14.

Valentino said that the case of the death of a USU student, Mahira, was a suicide, not an allegation of murder by a close person.

From the cellphone examination, Mahira before being found dead, had ordered potassium poison through an online application in Bogor City, West Java.

"That the order for poison, through one of the applicators that we have examined there is correct, the deceased ordered, then we really checked the sender. It turned out to be sent to the deceased, which ordered potas poison," said Valentino.

After getting the poison, Mahira looked for ways to commit suicide via the internet.

The police have also found evidence of the poison at Mahira's house.

"There (we secure), including the tool that helps (Mahira commit suicide), it uses sweet tea, then drinks it, something like that," he said.

Currently, the Medan Polrestabes is still waiting for the results from the North Sumatra Police forensic laboratory. In the near future the information will be detailed by investigators.

"Later, everything will be given information by Labfor and also from the hospital, we'll just have to wait for that, because this is an exhumation process and others," said the Medan Police Chief.
