Police Investigate The Escape Of Idi Prison Prisoners At Zubir Mahmud Hospital, East Aceh

The East Aceh Police, Aceh, investigated the escape of inmate Class IIB Idi Penitentiary with a 20-year sentence while being treated at the Zubir Mahmud Regional General Hospital (RSUD).

"We are still investigating what happened, why the inmate was able to escape and how he ran away and was looking to arrest him again," said East Aceh Police Chief AKBP Andy Rahmansyah as quoted by Antara, Sunday, June 11.

The police chief said that his party had also asked for information from both the prison and the hospital where the narcotics convict on behalf of Usman Sulaiman underwent treatment.

"For the time being, we have not been able to conclude anything because it is still an investigation. We will continue to try to find the escaped convict until he is caught," said Andy Rahmansyah.

Previously, Usman Sulaiman alias Muhammad Arifin (42) fled while undergoing treatment at Zubir Mahmud Idi General Hospital, East Aceh Regency, on June 3, 2023.

He is a drug convict of methamphetamine with 26 kilograms of evidence. The person concerned is a former member of the Bireuen Regency House of Representatives (DPRK).

Usman Sulaiman was named a fugitive because he has been involved in interprovincial drug networks since March 5, 2021.

He was arrested by officers from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in the Gampong Beusa Beurano Peureulak Barat Mosque area, East Aceh Regency, on April 20, 2021.

Usman Sulaiman was arrested along with 26 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine as evidence. The class one drug allegedly wanted to be brought with two of his colleagues to Jambi.
