Pancasila Deserves To Be A World Civilization Because It Is Admired By International Entities, Said The Chairperson Of The MPR

JAKARTA - Pancasila as the basis of Indonesia's state deserves to be used as a world civilization. This is because many international entities admire Pancasila.

This was especially when President Soekarno's speech introduced Pancasila before the United States Congress in 1956.

This view was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) while reading the Pancasila Text at the 2023 Pancasila Birthday Ceremony, at Monas Square, Jakarta, Thursday, June 1.

"Professor Marco Impagliazzo, Head of the Sant Edigo Community, an international organization centered in Rome, Italy, which has a membership of 73 countries, states that Pancasila with the universal values it contains deserves to be appointed as a reference for world civilization," Bamsoet said in his official statement, as quoted from Antara.

The former chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI for Law, Human Rights and Security explained that through Pancasila, Indonesia is believed to be a leader in various world organizations. For example, the G-20 Presidency in 2021-2022, the Chairperson of ASEAN 2023, the Non-permanent Member of the UN Security Council for the 2019-2020 Period, and members of the UN Human Rights Council for the 2020-2022 Period.

He added that Professor Thomas Meyer, an academic from Dortmund University, Germany, revealed that Pancasila has become an academic study material in Europe. The Pancasila ideology is considered better than neoliberalism and religious fundamentalism which became the largest political power in the 21st century.

"Meanwhile, Donald K. Emmerson, professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, United States, stated that the key to Indonesia's success in building pluralism in the midst of cultural identity diversity is thanks to the ideology of Pancasila and the motto of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika," he said.

Bamsoet said, with the presence of Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, Indonesia is considered to be a bridge of civilization for the world in interpreting pluralism.

The ceremony was led by President Joko Widodo as Ceremony Inspector, DIY Regional Police Traffic Director Kombes Alfian Nurrizal as Ceremony Commander, DPR RI Speaker Puan Maharani as the Reader of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) RI Anwar Usman as the reader of prayers.

"The Pancasila Birthday ceremony is not just a ceremonial activity, but rather an additional spirit for us to always practice Pancasila in every movement of life. Both in the family, society, to the nation and state," he said.

For this reason, he continued, the Indonesian people must be proud to have Pancasila which was first introduced by President Soekarno on June 1, 1945 at the BPUPKI Session. Not only has it proven to unite and strengthen the various diversity of the nation, Pancasila has been recognized by various world circles as the largest ideology in the 21st century.

Also attending the event were Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as Chairman of the Steering Committee of BPIP Megawati Soekarnoputri, 9th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Hamzah Haz, 11th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Boediono, Chairman of the DPD RI La Nyalla Mattalitti, Chairman of the Indonesian Supreme Court H. M. Syarifuddin, Chairman of KY RI Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata, and Chairman of BPK RI Isma Yatun.
