Bawaslu Has Not Found A Flow Of Political Funding From The Narcotics Network

Chairman of Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja said his agency had not found or received reports regarding indications of the flow of political funding in the 2024 General Election originating from narcotics networks.

"Nothing yet. Usually, friends from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) tell them, but until now they haven't," Bagja told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 30, that Antara had confiscated it.

In the future, Bagja also hopes that no election participants will take advantage of funding from the narcotics network to contest the 2024 General Election.

"Hopefully it's not at any level," he said.

Previously, the Directorate of Narcotics Crime, Bareskrim Polri, detected indications of political funding in the 2024 General Election originating from a narcotics network.

When opening the National Police's Narcotics Investigation Function Technical Working Meeting in Kuta, Badung, Bali, Wednesday, May 24, the Deputy Director of Narcotics Crime at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency, Police Commissioner Jayadi, said that the indication was not new, but had appeared in the 2019 Election.

"So far, are there any indications of involvement in the narcotics network, then the funds for electoral contestation in 2024, we are currently providing understanding today. However, the indication is that if you look at the data, it will allow it to exist," Jayadi said.

Next on Monday, May 29, the Directorate of Drug Crimes and ranks mapped and anticipated illegal funds from illicit drug trafficking to flow in the 2024 General Election.

Jayadi then conveyed that from the results of the temporary mapping carried out, no such indication was found.

"That's why I said earlier to anticipate mapping the contestation plan in 2024. (The results) are not yet available," he concluded.
