Successfully Shooting Falls Dozens Of Missiles And Drones Launched Into Kyiv, Ukraine Attacks South Russia

JAKARTA - Ukraine managed to drop dozens of missiles and drones launched at Kyiv in a night attack, while Russia said their southern region experienced similar attacks.

Ukraine shot down 10 missiles and more than 20 drones launched by Russia in an overnight attack on the capital Kyiv, Dnipro, and areas in the eastern region, officials said Friday.

President Volodymyr Zelensky's office said in a statement the fire had taken place on the outskirts of Kharkiv city in the northeast after a fuel depot was hit twice, causing equipment to pump damaged oil products.

Russia is known to have intensified missile and drone attacks in Ukraine this month, particularly attacking logistics and infrastructure facilities, before a retaliatory attack from Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's air force said it had shot down 10 missiles fired from the Kaspia Sea, 23 Iranian-made Shahed drones and two reconnaissance drones during last night's attack.

It said a total of 17 missiles and 31 drones had been launched in the attack, which began at around 22:00 p.m. local time on Thursday, continued into the morning on Friday.

Several drones and several missiles hit targets in Kharkiv and Dnipropxisk areas, officials said. However, there was no immediate news about the death toll.

"It was a very difficult night. His voice was very loud. The enemy launched a massive attack on the region with missiles and drones," said Serhiy Lysak, regional governor of Dnipropossk, on the Telegram messaging app.

"Dnipro has suffered," he said.

Furthermore, Lysak said, several houses, cars and private companies, including transportation companies and gas stations, had been damaged. A worker at a gas station was injured.

Officials in Kyiv said the roof of a shopping center, a private house and several cars had been damaged. The Governor of Kharkiv region also reported damage to several private homes and industrial facilities.

"Russia has shifted its focus on missile attacks to try to disrupt Ukrainian retaliatory preparations," military officials said.

Separately, Ukraine attacked two regions in southern Russia with a rocket and drone, although the missile was shot down by air defenses, according to media officials and reports.

In the city of Krasnodar, southern Russia, an explosion damaged a residential and office building, officials said.

They did not say what caused the explosion, although Russian media said it was a drone strike. Unverified videos on social media show an unmanned aircraft flying over the city.

"All emergency services work at the scene. The cause of this incident is being investigated. Residents are asked to remain calm," wrote Mayor Krasnodar Yevgeny Naumov on Telegram.

Yesterday, the neighboring governor of the Rostov region said a Ukrainian missile had been shot down by air defenses near Morozovsk, where there was a Russian air base.

"In the Morozovsk area, an air defense system exploded, shooting down a Ukrainian missile," said Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev.

"The military is doing its job. Stay calm," he said.
