JAKARTA - The Temanggung Regency Government in Central Java Province in 2021 will prepare 125,000 tree seedlings to green critical lands in the areas of Mount Sumbing, Mount Sindoro and Mount Prau.

Reported by Antara, Friday, January 22, Head of the Public Housing, Settlement and Environmental Services Office of Temanggung Regency, Entargo Yutri Wardono, said that the government allocated IDR 2 billion of the total IDR 2.5 billion budget for the Belt Mountain program for the procurement of tree seedlings.

"We are working with community organizations to procure seedlings. With this amount, Rp 16,000 per seedling is budgeted," he said.

In addition to allocating funds from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget, he said, the regency government is collaborating with state-owned enterprises in procuring tree seedlings to green around 13,000 hectares of critical land in the Temanggung Regency area.

"Currently, PT KAI has a capacity of Rp 200 million to procure seedlings," he said.

Entargo explained that planting tree seedlings in the Belt Gunung land conservation program will begin in October and November 2021.

"Planting in October-November with an estimate that it will start to rain and from October to April there will be continuous water," he said.

"Planting in March will only be in vain, because many must die," he added.

According to him, planting tree seedlings to green critical lands, is planned to be carried out simultaneously in October-November 2021.

"Areas that are very difficult and are critical lands that are not handled by the community. We will later plant them with conservation plants, namely bamboo, sugar palm and banyan trees," he said.
