Ganjar: All Regions In Central Java Support PPKM Extension

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said that all regions in the province support and are ready to implement the Community Activity Restriction Enforcement (PPKM) which was extended to February 8, 2021 to reduce the number of positive cases of COVID-19.

"We are still waiting for the decision, but the point is that if you look at this first PPKM, the results are not satisfactory. It is important to consider (the extension of the PPKM) so that we can reduce the positive number (of the COVID-19 case)," he said in Semarang, reported by Antara, Thursday, 21 January.

Ganjar said the support from 35 districts / cities regarding the implementation of PPKM was also very positive, although initially it was only applied to three former residencies, namely Semarang Raya, Solo Raya, and Banyumas Raya, but in its implementation all regions eventually implemented it.

"Even now, all districts / cities have participated, it has been 100 percent, the last time was Kendal. So if an extension is implemented, it doesn't need to be extended, because everyone has done it. Solidarity with regents / mayors is great because they have the awareness to be together. -the same applies PPKM, "he said.

Related to this, Ganjar asked the community to also support and make PPKM successful, because the success of this program lies in the participation of the community, while continuing to encourage the acceleration of the vaccination program.

"If this does not get any results, there is indeed a chance to be extended, but if the public participates in disciplining everything, the case will go down, maybe not extended," he said.

As reported, the central government decided to extend the Java-Bali PPKM for two weeks, from January 25, 2021 to February 8, 2021.

This is because the implementation of the first stage PPKM has not shown significant results because the number of COVID-19 cases is still increasing.
