TPAS Project Wall In Cianjur Collapses Overcoming Residents' Houses, BPBD Ensures Companies Change Loss

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency has ensured that the company is responsible for the collapsed retaining wall (TPT) that hit three residents' houses in Sirnagalih Village, Cilaku District.

Secretary of BPBD Cianjur Rudi Wibowo said the 8 meter high retaining wall with a length of 10 meters at the Pasirsembung Final Disposal Site (TPAS) collapsed during high intensity rain.

"Three families who heard a rumbling sound at the back of the house immediately evacuated their family members to a safe place, so that when the wall collapsed on the house was empty," he said in Cianjur, West Java, Friday, May 19, which was confiscated by Antara.

Rudi said the incident did not result in any casualties. The company that is working on widening the Pasirsembung TPAS area, said Rudi, will be responsible for replacing the damage to damaged houses will be repaired as before.

"The company that is widening the TPAS area has promised to be responsible for the incident," he said.

The village head of Sirnagonalih Sugiar added that the company is confirmed to be responsible for the collapse of the TPT that hit its residents' houses in Kampung Kandangsapi, Sirnaginalih Village, Cilaku District.

"Cleaning up avalanche materials has been carried out by the company which is still working on making TPT around the Pasir Sembung TPAS. There were no casualties in the incident, but three families were forced to evacuate," he said.

Sugiar suspects that the TPT, which is located close to the residents' village, is due to its unstable land, when it rains heavily with an intensity of more than two hours, collapsed on a resident's house which was only two meters away.

"The shop was built on the edge of a river where the land was unstable, we have warned that it should not be too high to build. Finally, the wall collapsed, hit people's houses, public bathrooms and prayer rooms," he concluded.
