BNNP Denies Head Of West Pasaman BNN Extorts Wife Of Drug Dealer Suspect

The Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of West Sumatra confirmed that no extortion was carried out by the Head of the West Pasaman BNNK (Pasbar) Irwan Effenry Am to the wife of the suspect with the initials YEL who was arrested in Payakumbuh City in March 2023.

"There is no extortion, but what is there is an attempt by the suspect's wife to bribe investigators to change the article to lighten the suspect's sentence, namely from the dealer of Article 112 and Article 114 to use Article 127) Law Number 35 of 2009," said Head of the West Sumatra BNNP Brigadier General Sukria Gaos in Padang, reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.

According to him, the dealer was sentenced to death, while the user was sentenced to prison for more than five years.

He said the legal process against the suspect (YEL) was still ongoing. In the near future, the suspect and evidence will be handed over to the prosecutor.

"For the suspect's wife, we will report the alleged bribery of members," he said.

According to Sukria, this was discovered after his party summoned and questioned the head of the Pasaman Regency BNN regarding the alleged extortion that was acknowledged by the wife of the YEL perpetrator.

Previously, this case emerged after one of the two wives of the arrested suspect revealed allegations of extortion by the Head of the West Pasaman Regency BNN. The suspect's wife admitted that she was asked for Rp25 million for changes to the investigation report (BAP).

"It is offered a change in BAP by the Head of West Pasaman BNN. Asked in three days to make money, I don't know, I'm from a village, I don't know about the BAP," he said.

He said that for the change in BAP, he had to pay Rp. 25 million.

"I asked where I was looking for that money, I didn't have any money. I was having a hard time, I had no more assets, I tried to get stuck. Then he said try to find it for three days," he said.

Hearing the news, the suspect's wife admitted that she was stressed and made her pregnancy unstable. The mother of three children was forced to pawn her motorbike.

"I was stressed, panicked, then pawned a motorbike, I got Rp15 million. I took the money to the room of the head of the Pasaman Regency BNN, I said there was only Rp15 million," he said.

The Rp15 million was received by the Head of the West Pasaman Regency BNN even though what was requested was Rp25 million. But in fact, the amendment to the article was not realized, said the suspect's wife.

He protested and it turned out that changes to the article could not be done. This extortion was told by the suspect's wife to his brother. He mentioned his brother as a journalist who lives in West Pasaman. "The Rp15 million was received. After receiving it, I asked what was the BAP? What was the article applied. Article 114, Article 112, he said, means the same. What was offered was Article 127 as a user, so what's the point of asking for money? You can't say it," said the suspect's wife. "I told the brother who is also a journalist. Afraid of him. The money was returned, if I'm not mistaken in April 2023. So two members of the West Pasaman Regency BNN came to my house," he added. According to him, the process of handing this money was recorded as evidence.
