The Atambua Immigration Office examined two foreign nationals (WNA) from Timor Leste who were stranded in the waters of Tanjung Bastian, Wini, North Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

"We examined the two foreigners, namely ASD (38) and DS (35) further after they were handed over by the North Insana Police," said Head of Immigration Office Class II Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) Atambua KA Halim as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.

He explained that the two foreigners were fishermen from Liquica, Timor Leste.

From the results of the interim inspection, he said, they admitted that they were accidentally stranded in the waters of Tanjung Bastian Wini on Thursday (18/5) due to the capsized boat while fishing in Timor Leste waters.

After being found stranded, they were immediately secured by the police at the North Insana Police for initial investigation.

Both have been handed over to Immigration officers at the Wini Cross-Border Post (PLBN) for further investigation.

After the examination, it will be followed up with the deportation of the two foreigners to return to their country of origin in accordance with the existing regulatory mechanism.

"We are also coordinating with the Timor Leste Consulate in Atambua for the deportation of the two foreigners," he said.
