JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate has been named a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the 4G BTS project and supporting infrastructure for packages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the Ministry of Communication and Information for 2020-2022. The Minister of Communication and Information was immediately arrested.

"Today's investigative team has raised the status of the person concerned (Johnny G Plate) from being a suspect," said Deputy Attorney General's Investigation Director for Special Crimes at the Attorney General's Office, Kuntadi to reporters, Wednesday, May 17.

The determination of the suspect was carried out after Johnny G Plate was examined today. Then, from the examination process, sufficient evidence was found regarding his involvement.

"After we evaluated it, we concluded that there was sufficient evidence in question that he was suspected of being involved in the corruption case of the 4G BTS infrastructure development project package 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5," he said.

With the determination of this suspect, the NasDem politician was immediately detained. He will be placed in the Salemba detention center at the Attorney General's Office.

"Detention for the next 20 days at the Salemba Rutan, the Attorney General's Office," said Kuntadi.

The corruption case of BTS Kominfo began in order to provide digital services in leading, outermost areas and was left behind when Kominfo built the BTS 42,000 site infrastructure.

In the implementation of planning and auction, it is proven that the suspects have engineered and conditioned, so that in the procurement process there is no healthy competition condition so that in the end it is suspected that there is a high price that must be paid by the state.

In this case, the AGO has named five people as suspects, namely AAL as the President Director of Bakti Kominfo, GMS as the President Director of PT Mora Telematika Indonesia, YS as the Human Development Expert at the University of Indonesia in 2020, MA as Account Director of Integrated Account Department of PT Huawei Tech Investment, IH as Commissioner of PT Solitech Media Sinergy.
