JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin revealed that the Government is currently preparing the steps needed to enter the COVID-19 endemic period.

This is following up on the COVID-19 emergency status which has just been revoked by the World Health Organization, aka WHO.

"Yes, we (the government) are preparing things that are for this endemic period; maybe little by little people have started to consider it normal. Therefore, medicine, facilities if anything happens, we have anticipated it and we have made preparations," said the Vice President in his statement, Friday, May 12, confiscated by Antara.

The vice president said this when delivering a press statement after attending the Strengthening of Village Community Development and Empowerment event Towards Stunting-Free Indonesia and Extreme Poverty in Ternate, North Maluku, Friday, May 12.

He added that the public should be grateful because WHO has revoked the COVID-19 emergency status. However, he reminded to remain vigilant.

"Regarding the revocation, I think I am grateful, even Indonesia has revoked PPKM since 2022. We have withdrawn because we are sloping, even though we are still vigilant. Therefore, we should remain (alert) because it has not been lost. The term from WHO has not been lost at all, it's just not dangerous," he explained.

Furthermore, he also appreciated the people who have committed to showing vigilance even though the PPKM status had been revoked by the Government long before the COVID-19 emergency status was revoked by the WHO, one of which was to consistently use masks when doing daily activities.
