Bareskrim Detains Deputy Minister Of Law And Human Rights' Nephew Who Catut Uncle's Name, Promises To Take Position

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has decided to detain Archi Bela, the nephew of Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej. He is a suspect in the alleged defamation case

"(Archi Bela) He will be detained starting today, Thursday, May 11, 2023," said Director of Cyber Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Adi Vivid to reporters, Thursday, May 11.

Archi Bela's detention was carried out after investigators examined him as a suspect today. The reasons behind the detention of the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights' nephew were not explained in detail.

However, if referring to Article 21 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code, there are three subjective reasons for investigators to make detentions, namely, it is feared that they will run away, destroy evidence, and repeat their criminal acts.

So far, Adi Vivid only said that Archi was charged with Article 45 paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (3) and/or Article 51 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 35 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 1 of 2008 concerning ITE or Article 310 of the Criminal Code or Article 311 of the Criminal Code.

Archi's detention was also confirmed by his lawyer, Slamet Yuono. However, he assessed that the investigator's decision to detain his client had harmed justice.

"So, bad news for justice in Indonesia. Bad news for the little people in Indonesia, we have been criminalized by our clients and today tonight our client is being detained," said Slamet.

For information, Archi Bela was reported by Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej. This is because he often takes the name of his uncle and promises to promote positions to the ranks of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

Of course, on condition that you have to hand over some money. However, the nominal is not yet known.
