Case Of Harassment Of Santriwati In East Lombok, Police Detain The Leadership Of Islamic Boarding School

MATARAM - The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police have detained and monitored the handling of the alleged harassment of female students from one of the Islamic boarding schools (Ponpes) in East Lombok Regency.

Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Pol Arman Asmara Syarifuddi, said that his party was monitoring this case through coordination with the East Lombok Police.

"From the coordination of the NTB Police through the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum), the East Lombok Police were asked to follow up on this case in accordance with applicable law. So, decisive action without selective slashing," Arman said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 9.

Regarding the detention of the head of the Islamic boarding school, he said that this was part of the police's actions in handling the case.

"So, the legal action taken by the police (detention) has been carried out according to the SOP and the legal rules themselves," he said.

Furthermore, Arman appealed to the public if they become victims of harassment to immediately report it to the police.

Dia pun menjanjikan adanya pendampingan terhadap korban melalui fungsi kerja sama dengan lembaga perlindungan perempuan dan anak di NTB.

"Regarding the complaint service, of course we will definitely prepare for this. Therefore, we urge if there are victims related to this case or similar cases, immediately report them to us," he said.

The alleged perpetrator of the abuse of female students who are still children is the head of the Islamic boarding school with the initials LM (40). The police secured LM on Saturday, May 6.

In the victim's report, LM was suspected of committing acts of harassment by convincing the victim to go to heaven and the act had the blessing of the prophet. Victims to the police serve LM in the period 2022 to March 2023.
