8 Subdistricts In West Aceh Submerged By Floods

A total of eight sub-districts in West Aceh Regency as of Sunday (7/5) night were reported to have been flooded with water levels reaching one meter.

"This natural flood disaster has occurred due to successive heavy rains that have occurred since the last three days," said West Aceh Regency BPBD Pusdalops Coordinator Mashuri, quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, the flood disaster that occurred in West Aceh Regency occurred due to the overflowing of a number of large rivers in this area, such as the Woyla and Krueng Meureubo Rivers, so that it inundated residential areas.

There are also villages that were flooded including Lancong Village (Gampong), Tungkop Village, Kajeung Village, Tanoh Mirah Village, Gleng Village, Gaseu Village, Ramitie Village, Sungai Mas District.

Then the flood also submerged Gampong Seumantok, Gampong Alue Keumang, and Gampong Lawet, Pante Ceureumen District.

In Woyla Barat District, floods hit Gampong Napai, Gampong Blang Luah, Gampong Alue Leuhop.

In Mereubo District, floods hit Gampong Pasie Aceh Tunong, Gampong Pasi Pinang, Gampong Pasi Masjid.

In Johan Pahlawan Subdistrict, the flood submerged Gampong Pasi Leuhan and Ceukokmen, and the flood also submerged a number of villages in Woyla Timur District.

Mashuri said that his party is still trying to monitor a number of villages in West Aceh, to ensure the current conditions in the community.

"As of Sunday night, heavy rains still hit a number of areas in West Aceh Regency," he said.
