Tangerang-Merak Landslide Toll Road, 3 Lanes Still Safe To Cross

JAKARTA - The road retaining wall on the Tangerang-Merak landslide toll road. This is known from a number of videos that are widely circulated on social media.

The landslide of concrete or the Land Detention Wall (DPT) is located at KM 56 towards Tangerang or to be precise at the Ciujung River bridge, which has just been widened by the bridge and its roads.

Responding to the incident, the Tangerang-Merak Toll Astra maintenance team conducted a direct search of the location, which then coordinated with the parties, such as the Ciujung Cidurian River Basin Center (BBWS C3), implementing contractors and technical consultants.

"From the results of field observations, landslides occurred in some locations, some of which were piled up of oprete or partial retaining walls (DPT) of the Ciujung Bridge, which intersects with foundational work for ongoing Ciujung river flood control work," said Head of the CSR & Public Relations Management Department of Astra Tol Tangerang-Merak Uswatun Hasanah in his official statement, quoted on Saturday, May 6.

Uswatun said that his party immediately carried out security and handling of emergency traffic with closures on the shoulder of the road. "Based on observations and analysis of potential risks for security on toll roads so far, three lanes of the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road are still safe to cross by road users," he said.

In addition, said Uswatun, the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road Manager and the Ciujung River flood control project team have also appealed to the public for the time being not to cross the motorcycle lane, because they will be handled by landslides by implementing contractors which are directly supervised by technical consultants.

"We continue to prioritize safety and security, both road users and the public," he concluded.
