6 Recidentified Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 Passengers, Including One Flight Attendant

JAKARTA - The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team again identified six passengers on the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane that crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands.

One of the victims identified includes a flight attendant who is an extra crew from the NAM Air airline that will fly from Pontianak, namely Grislend Gloria (28).

"As of 5:00 p.m., the number of identified victims has increased by six," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono in a press conference held at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, Tuesday, January 19.

Apart from Grislend Gloria, the five other people identified were Kolisun (37); Faisal Rahman (30); Andi Syifa Kamila (23); Sinta (23); and Mulyadi (39). The five passengers, said Rusdi, were identified through the DNA matching method.

With this addition, the total number of passengers identified to date has reached 40 people.

"Yesterday 34 victims then increased by 6 victims. So a total of 40 people," he said.

As previously reported, the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft on the Jakarta-Pontianak route lost contact in the Thousand Islands shortly after taking off from Soekarno Hatta Airport on Saturday, January 9, 2020.

Furthermore, the authorities provide certainty if the plane crashed around Male Island and Lancang Island, Thousand Islands.

The total aircraft carried 62 people, including 12 crew members and 50 passengers consisting of 40 adult passengers, seven children and three babies.

There was also a search operation on the fuselage, including the search for parts of the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and the bodies of the passengers were decided to be extended for three days.
