Throwing Suspicious Objects, A Man Arrested Outside Buckingham Palace Ahead Of The Appointment Of King Charles III This Weekend

JAKARTA - British police arrested a man outside Buckingham Palace on Tuesday for throwing what they believe is a rifle bullet casing and officers also carried out a controlled explosion in the area, days before King Charles III' meritorious ceremony on weekends.

Police said the man had approached Buckingham Palace gates and threw objects suspected of being rifle shell casings into the palace grounds, before being finally detained by officers at around 18.00 local time.

"The man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon after being searched and found a knife," the London Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The statement explained that the police are currently not treating the matter as a matter of terrorism.

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace said neither King Charless III nor his wife Camilla were at the palace on Tuesday.

In addition, it said experts had carried out controlled explosions as a precaution. Strict guard was carried out after the man was found to be carrying a suspicious bag, but has recently returned to normal.

"There were no reports of gunfire being fired, or injuries to officers or members of the community," said Chief Inspector Joseph McDonald.

It is known that the police and security services are preparing for theappropriation of King Charles III on Saturday, which is expected to be attended by large crowds of people on the streets of London, with heads of state from around the world attending official ceremonies.

Earlier, an unarmed man was arrested in Buckingham Palace yard after climbing the barrier wall in 2016.

Meanwhile, in 2021, a man was arrested at Windsor Castle on Christmas Day wearing a mask and holding an automatic arrow.
