YOGYAKARTA - The Labor Party announced 4 presidential candidates who are supported to run in the 2024 General Election. Said Iqbal, President of the Labor Party, said the names of the four presidential candidates emerged after his party's national work (Rakernas) some time ago. So who is the reader of the Labor Party's choice?

"The Labor Party chooses who? The Labor Party chooses the person who will be decided in 3 stages. The first is the National Working Meeting, there are 4 names," Said Iqbal said at Istora Senayan on Monday (1/5/2023).

Said Iqbal also revealed the characteristics of the presidential candidate chosen by the Labor Party. Who are the names of reading the presidents chosen by the Labor Party?

Four names of presidential candidates for the Labor Party's choice after the National Working Meeting, namely Ganjar Pranowo, Anies Baswedan, Said Iqbal, and Najwa Shihab. Labor Party President Said Iqbal said after the National Working Meeting there would be a convention to determine who would be supported as a presidential candidate.

The Labor Party will hold a convention in June or July 2023. The convention will be presented by professors from various disciplines, as well as a distribution of questionnaires to workers to choose who the presidential candidates are supported.

Said Iqbal said that after that there would be a presidium meeting stage. The meeting was held to decide who would be supported through the 11 founding organizations of the Labor Party.

"So it is strict in the Labor Party, there is no sovereign, dynastic, and external sovereignty. And we will not form a coalition with political parties that ratify the Job Creation Act, wait for the time," said Said Iqbal.

Said Iqbal conveyed the characteristics of the presidential candidate chosen by the Labor Party. He said that the first presidential candidate to be elected was a pro-to-labor figure.

"Those who care about the working class," said Said Iqbal.

The second feature is the presidential candidate who rejects the Omnibus Law on Job Creation. He assessed that the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Law was detrimental to workers. The regulation is considered to have an impact on several workers' rights. Such as severance pay compensation in termination of employment (PHK) is considered to be far less than the provisions of the Employment Law.

In addition, Said Iqbal also said that the determination of the minimum wage actually launched a low wage system and facilitated the expanded contract work, internship, and outsourcing system. He also considers the Omnibus Law on Job Creation to facilitate the entry of foreign workers (TKA) into the country, especially unskill workers.

"The Labor Party will not form a coalition with the existing parties, which are pro Omnibus Law. The Labor Party is only in coalition with its presidential candidate, personally. The Labor Party will not comply with pro omnibus law political parties," said Said.

The announcement of the Presidential Decree of the Labor Party was quite surprising to the public that there was no Prabowo Subianto's name. Said Iqbal also opened his voice about the reason why his party did not support the Gerindra Party leadership.

Said Iqbal admitted that he had been attacked by a group of supporters of Prabowo Subianto. From this case, he decided not to stand up for Prabowo. Whereas in the previous time, his party supported the chairman of the Gerindra Party.

"Yesterday we supported Prabowo, we were praised for his supporters. Then we supported Anies, we were praised for his supporters. Today he only supported Ganjar, the Anies and Prabowo groups attacked us. I don't like it," said Said Iqbal.

In addition, Said Iqbal also said that Prabowo agreed with the Omnibus Law, which is not in line with the principles of the Labor Party. However, regarding this matter, his party will still confirm further.

"Because he said Pak Prabowo agreed with the Omnibus Law, 80% of Job Creation has adopted the labor issue. But we ask for clarification again from Mr. Probowo, it's really not like that," said Iqbal.

Such is the review of the Labor Party's choice of presidential reading in the 2024 General Election. However, the names announced as presidential candidates who will be supported are still not final decisions. The Labor Party will still carry out several stages of assessment and election to determine who will be given support.
