Accompanied by heavy rain, PT KAI officers continued to repair the collapsed train at KM 206 + 0 / 2 plots of route between Gilas and Sepancar, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra Province.

The train journey on the Tanjung Karang-Kertapati route has been delayed since Friday (28/4) and is expected to return to normal.

"Until today, the repair process for the normalization of the collapsed railroad is still ongoing," said Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Divre III Palembang Aida Suryanti in Palembang, Monday.

Aida added, there are indications that the train line collapsed at KM 152/+2 plots of the route between the Great Country and the Umpu Belmbangan so that the Rajabasa train trip for the Kertapati-Tanjung Karang relation today was canceled.

"With the safety and security considerations of train passengers, train travel had to be canceled," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 1.

He said the company was deploying additional personnel to accelerate the completion of repairs to the collapsed railroad section, which included strengthening the foundation and adding retaliatory stones to tighten the track.

"Previously, a trial of train travel had been carried out across the line at a limited speed, but heavy rain conditions became an obstacle," he said.

The management of PT KAI (Persero) Divre III Palembang apologized to prospective passengers regarding the disruption of train travel.

"We have informed the affected customers regarding the latest conditions for train travel and are advised to look for other alternative transportation," Aida said.

"For ticket cancellations, funds are returned 100 percent outside of the booking fee at Kertapati, Payakabung, and Prabumulih Stations for the next seven days," he concluded.
