Heavy Backflow, Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road Implemented Contraflow

JAKARTA - The traffic flow on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on the backflow of Eid, Saturday, is still quite congested until traffic engineering is carried out in the form of a contraflow from Cikampek to Jakarta.

VP Corporate Secretary and Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, in Karawang, Saturday, said that contraflow traffic engineering was carried out on the discretion of the police.

Contraflow is carried out to anticipate an increase in traffic volume on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road towards Jakarta, from KM 72 to KM 47.

This Saturday the contraflow was implemented from noon and is still ongoing until the afternoon. "The application of contraflow is applied situationally to overcome the density," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 29.

Along with the implementation of traffic, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) optimizes transaction services at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate by operating a total of 28 toll substations from normal conditions of 15 toll substations.

In addition, additional 20 mobile reader units were also alerted to serve transactions towards Jakarta.

PT JTT also appealed to Trans Java toll road users to prepare themselves before entering a trip on the toll road.

Preparations were made to ensure that the vehicle was in prime condition, had sufficient electronic money balance, refueled before starting the trip and brought supplies to avoid crowds or congestion in the rest area.

Meanwhile, to overcome the traffic congestion on the Trans Java Toll Road, officers engineered the one way traffic from KM 188 Palimanan Toll Gate (GT) to KM 72 Cikopo, Saturday afternoon. This was done on the discretion of the police.

"Jasa Marga also ensures that facilities and infrastructure operate optimally," said Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana.

GT Cikampek Utama as a toll gate that serves one way traffic currently optimizes 28 operating toll booths as well as an alerting 20 mobile readers to serve transactions towards Jakarta.
