ASEAN Summit, Police Ask Labuan Bajo Residents To Be Patient When Road Closures Often Occur

The Labuan Bajo area is the venue for the ASEAN 2023 Summit (Doc. Ministry of PUPR).

LABUAN BAJO - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Johanis Asadoma appealed to the people of Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, to comply with the policies and regulations imposed during the ASEAN 2023 Summit (KTT).

"We ask for the understanding of the public to comply with the policies and actions of the police that we will implement," Johanis Asadoma said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 28.

The ASEAN 2023 Summit was held in Labuan Bajo on 9-11 May 2023. To make this activity a success, the NTT Police imposed a number of policies that must be obeyed by the community.

One of the policies is the diversion of transportation flows with opposite current systems or contraflows. The system regulates traffic by changing the normal direction of vehicle flow on a highway, due to considerations for the transfer of the head of state delegation from one point of activity to another.

"Please obey. If it's closed, don't force yourself to enter. Just follow what the traffic apparatus has regulated," he said.

Furthermore, Johanis asked motorbikes, cars, and vehicles to be parked in the places provided. Residents are asked not to park their vehicles in any place.

"The motorbike, car, if the parking is found, a place that does not interfere with the traffic flow of the delegation. Do not park carelessly. You already know the route is passed, but it parked there," he explained.

He hopes that international activities can be utilized properly by the community and all parties, so that the name of Indonesia, especially Labuan Bajo, becomes increasingly famous and the event can be successful.

"This is concrete support so that the event can run safely, orderly, without any disturbances; so that we can succeed as the host of this prestigious ASEAN Summit," said Johanis.
