Dr. Soeharso's KRI Floating Hospital Arrives In Mamuju, Ready To Treat Emergency Patients

JAKARTA - The floating hospital belonging to the Indonesian Navy or KRI dr Soeharso-990 (SHS-990) from Fleet II Command has docked at Lanal Mamuju Pier, West Sulawesi Province.

This ship is intended to receive patients who are victims of an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2.

Commander of Lantamal VI First Admiral TNI Benny Sukandari said the KRI SHS-990 was deployed at the instructions of the Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral TNI Yudo Margono.

"The KRI dr Suharso sailed from Koarmada II and was deployed on the instructions of the KSAL to support operational activities in humanitarian missions," said Benny as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 19.

KRI dr Suharso can support operational activities, especially in humanitarian missions against ongoing natural disasters including non-war military operations (OMSP).

On a humanitarian mission in Mamuju, KRI SHS-990 was supported by two helicopters which were useful for transporting unreached earthquake victims and carrying 160 personnel consisting of 94 KRI crew members and 56 Task Force Team.

Danlantamal VI explained that the KRI SHS-990 had docked at the Lanal Mamuju pier in the framework of the Natural Disaster Management Task Force in West Sulawesi.

The Indonesian Navy floating hospital not only carries medicines and medical personnel, but also basic necessities and electrical equipment.

"The materials brought by KRI SHS-990, including collected from Pangkoarmada II, Dispotmar, Diskes Koarmada II, Dopusbektim, Spotmar, Disharkap, Dismat, Dispsial, Dismatbek, PT. Lautan Berlian Nusantara, PLN, Moro Cakra and from Lantamal V Surabaya, "he said.
