The Police Chief Ensures That Ternate Conditions Are Conducive After The Clashes Of 2 Youths Due To Alcohol

JAKARTA - Ternate Police Chief AKBP Andik Purnomo Sigit ensured that the situation was safe and conducive after clashes between two youth groups in Jambula and Sasa Villages on Saturday, April 22 yesterday.

"With the agreement between the two parties signed by the sub-district head, the village head as well as youth leaders, religious leaders and traditional leaders to make peace," said the Ternate Police Chief in response to clashes between residents after Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah in Ternate, North Maluku, Sunday 23 April reported by Antara.

The police chief said the clashes between the two groups of youths were triggered by the influence of alcohol so that the two groups attacked each other and threw stones and bottles.

As a result of the clashes that occurred at around 16.00 WIT or after the Asr prayer, the situation on the border between the two villages had heated up. Luckily, Ternate Police members assisted by TNI members from Kodim 1501 Ternate led by Dandim 1501 Ternate, Jamet Nij Infantry Colonel, arrived at the scene and dispersed them

"Alhamdulillah, we can quickly overcome it with the help of members of the TNI, so now the situation is back to being conducive," he said.

The police chief explained that during the clashes there were no casualties. However, there were a number of residents who were injured as a result of being hit by stone sheets and bottles.

"Now it is safe after both parties agreed to sign a letter of agreement to make peace and there are no more clashes," said Andik.

He stated that if the peace agreement that had been signed was a violation, the Ternate Police would take firm action in accordance with applicable law.

The police chief added that both parties also agreed to hold patrols in their respective areas to provide understanding of the security and social order and reminded residents to avoid drinking.

Therefore, the Police Chief appealed to all residents of Ternate City to maintain security, especially now that Muslims are still celebrating Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri.
