JAKARTA - Sobs for the families of prisoners or correctional inmates (WBP) broke out when the official face-to-face service meeting was opened at the Class 1 Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, Saturday, April 22.

Families from WBP who serve detention at Class 1 Cipinang Prison can't help but cry. They felt touched. The reason is, during the 3 years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the family and WBP could not meet their families face to face for three times Eid.

"Face-to-face services have been opened in all prisons and detention centers in Jakarta after 3 years of the pandemic. This is a policy from the Director General of Corrections for face-to-face visits," said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kakanwil Kemenkumham) DKI Jakarta, Ibnu Chuldun, Saturday, April 22.

This year, the family can meet face to face during the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. They can gather with their families, even though one of their families is still serving prison terms.

"We conducted a review of the Eid al-Fitr visit service process. Three days earlier, the family had registered online using digital applications, so first register their families. So only the core family may visit, namely their parents and children," he said.

Registration online is done so that officers can record the number of visitors and the number of inmates they will visit. Data collection is carried out so that the Head of Cipinang Class 1 Prison can regulate the flow of time starting from registration, waiting room and so on.

"Now because of Eid al-Fitr, face-to-face services are provided to every family who visits for 45 minutes. Earlier, visitors admitted that there were no levies. So for the past two days, those who are allowed to visit are special from the nuclear family. Friends and relatives, face-to-face on Monday," he said.

The quota for visits was not limited by officers. However, to regulate the number, families who want to visit the WBP are divided into 3 time sessions.

"We cannot limit it, the quota is divided into 3 waves. In the morning, afternoon and evening. Very large land can accommodate around 5 thousand people. This family-specific face-to-face service is provided for 2 days," he explained.

Meanwhile, for residents who want to visit the WBP, they should not bring food and bottled drinks. Because packaged food is prohibited from entering prisons and detention centers.

"All that can be done is home cooked food such as ketupat, chicken opor, rendang can be brought. Packaged food cannot enter the prison area," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Cipinang Class 1 Prison, Tonny Nainggolan, said that today there were 713 visits that had registered with families.

"If the 713 family heads have 4 family members, then visitors are estimated to reach 3 thousand people. We will divide the visit hours for 3 sessions per day, visit for 2 days. Visits from 08.30 to 15.00 WIB," he said.

Direct face-to-face visits were carried out simultaneously at Correctional Institutions (Lapas), Detention Centers (Rutan) and Child Special Development Institutions (LPKA) throughout DKI Jakarta.
