The Name Sandiaga Uno May Be Discussed In The PPP-PKS Meeting

JAKARTA - Acting Chairman of PPP Muhammad Mardiono revealed that there is a possibility to discuss Sandiaga Uno in a meeting with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). "Yes, it could also be a chat material. This is like a tug of war, which is interesting here," said Mardiono at the PPP DPP Office, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, April 19. Even so, he emphasized that what was withdrawn was not Sandiaga but a political choice. Mardiono hopes that the political choice between PKS and PPP will be the same. "PKS hopes are also PPP's choice as well as PKS's choice. That is indeed the necessity and dynamics of politics in a democratic country," he added. When asked whether he would carry Sandiaga with PKS in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres), he admitted that it was still uncertain. "Can you do it, can you not," replied Mardiono. Based on the schedule set by the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU), the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023. As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR. Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI.

Then, candidate pairs can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid votes of at least 34,992,703 votes.
