JAKARTA - A woman in Barito Kuala (Batola) Regency, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) was successfully evacuated by officers in the midst of flood conditions. It is known that the woman is pregnant and about to give birth.

Wakapolres Barito Kuala, Kompol Jatmiko, who went directly to the flood site, said that the woman was rushed to the Islamic Hospital in Banjarmasin for the delivery process.

"Alhamdulillah, the woman in question has been in the hospital to get help," said Jatmiko, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 17.

Meanwhile in another location, the police also moved quickly to evacuate a mother who had just given birth and her baby in Semangat Bakti Village, Alalak District.

Bhabinkamtibmas Sungai Lumbah, Berangas Police Brigadier Suryadi together with PMI and volunteers took the mother and baby to a safer place by using a rubber boat.

"In my fostered village, quite a lot of houses have been flooded since the last five days with water levels varying up to 1 meter," said Suryadi.

The response of the Barito Kuala Police personnel followed the instructions of the Barito Kuala Police Chief, AKBP Lalu Moh Syahir Arif. He wanted his members to come to help the flood victims.

"Bhabinkamtibmas must properly record its assisted residents so that during the evacuation process everything can be saved. Aid is also distributed, especially for daily food needs," said the Police Chief.

Responding to the severe increase in water discharge that hit six sub-districts in the Batola area, such as Jejangkit, Mandastana, Kuripan, Tabukan, Bakumpai and Alalak, the regional government declared the status of flood emergency response.

In Jejangkit Subdistrict, almost all of the seven villages are submerged. Meanwhile, Mandastana District, out of 14 villages, only two villages were not submerged, namely Karang Indah and Karang Bunga.

Meanwhile, the worst floods hit Antasan Village, Tatah Halayung and Hambawang Beach.

The water level in the three villages ranges from 50 to 70 centimeters which causes almost all residents' houses, places of worship, schools, offices and other public facilities to be submerged.
