BNPB: 34 People Died Due To West Sulawesi Earthquake, Communication Network Not Stable And Electricity Disconnected

JAKARTA - The Disaster Management Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) again issued data on the number of victims due to the Majene earthquake, West Sulawesi.

Based on data from January 15 to 14.00 WIB, 34 people were declared dead due to an earthquake of magnitude 6.2.

"Details of 26 people died in Mamuju Regency and 8 people in Majane Regency," said the Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Raditya Jati in his statement, Friday, January 15.

In addition, a number of evacuation posts have now been established in Mamuju and Majene areas. There are 10 refugee posts in Majene Regency. Meanwhile, for Mamuju District there are 5 evacuation posts.

"There are 10 refugee locations in Majene Regency, including Kota Tinggi Village, Lombong Village, Kayu Angin Village, Petabean Village, Deking Village, Mekata Village, Kabkirian Village, Lakkading Village, Lembang Village, Limbua Village in Ulumanda District, Malunda District and Sendana District, "he said.

"Meanwhile, in Mamuju Regency there are five refugee points located in Mamuju District and Simboro District," continued Raditya.

Furthermore, BNPB has also distributed assistance in the form of basic necessities. But for the current condition, the electricity is still cut off and the communication network is not stable in the two districts.

"BNPB also distributed assistance in handling the earthquake disaster in Mamuju and Majene districts, including 8 sets of isolation tents, 10 sets of refugee tents, 2,004 packages of nutritional supplements, 2,004 packages of ready-to-eat food, 1,002 packages of side dishes, 700 sheets of blankets, 5 Light Tower units, 200 Velbed units, 500 baby equipment packages, 500,000 pieces of cloth masks, 700 packs of sago noodles and 30 units of 5 KVA generator sets, "he said.
