The bomb disposal from the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police Mobile Brigade Unit sterilizes a number of churches in Kupang City ahead of the Thursday White Mass today, April 6.

Head of the Brimob Bomb Disposal Subsatgas of the NTT Police Ipda Falerio L Tamal said the sterilization process was carried out to provide a sense of security for Christians who celebrate the Tri Holy Day to Easter.

"Our churches are strerilized before people enter the church to start worship so that they feel safe and comfortable when worshiping," he said in NTT, Thursday, April 6, which was confiscated by Antara.

Felerio said the sterilization was carried out two hours before the service or the Holy Thursday Night Mass began.

In the sweep, he said, every corner of the church building was examined carefully by officers, both inside and outside the church, including Easter ornaments, cupboards in the church, and congregation seats.

"This was taken to provide a sense of security to the congregation who will carry out the Easter service from any possible disturbances or acts of terror during the service," he explained.

Previously, the NTT Police Chief Inspector General Johanis Asadoma said that the NTT Regional Police deployed 108 personnel to assist the Kupang City Police to secure the Easter celebration.

A number of troops have been shifted to the name "Operation Semana Santa Turangga 2023". A number of personnel were asked to work optimally and assist security in every church and vulnerable points.
