JAKARTA - The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Indonesia (ILUNI FIB UI) assesses that artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence/AI) will have a positive impact on cultural development.

"Cultural practices can explore artificial intelligence that is beneficial for cultural development. The combination of culture and technology will create individuals with a personality for cultural development in the digital era," said ILUNI FIB UI Chairman Patria Pinandita Ginting Suka as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

Artificial intelligence, he said, was developed by the government in line with the launch of the 2020-2045 Artificial Intelligence National Strategy to develop the AI ecosystem in Indonesia.

Based on the Daily Social research, Patria said, the use of AI in Indonesia is still relatively low, which is four percent of the number of respondents surveyed. "The AI trend will develop and provide opportunities for lecturers, students, and UI FIB alumni to create various innovations, including linguistic-based applications or natural language processing, archives, archipelago, and others," he explained.

In the future, he continued, the Daily Social research optimizes AI to contribute US$366 billion to Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2030.

Patria shared her experience of stringing words into poetry for five seconds using artificial intelligence at ChatGPT. The poem was read by Patria when delivering a speech at the grand launching of the FIB UI ILUNI Management at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIB UI) Campus in Depok on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

"About 95 percent of this poem is accompanied by ChatGPT's words by simply typing the keywords, namely poetry about university alumni organizations," said Patria, who won a Humaniora Bachelor in the History Science Study Program, FIB UI (2001-2005).

On the same occasion, Dr. Alfian Syahmadan Siagian, SS, M. Hum, Student Manager and Alumni FIB UI, appreciated the road map launched by ILUNI FIB UI which links culture and technology for cultural development.

"I hope that ILUNI FIB UI will have a real impact on the development of culture and students and alumni being able to adapt in the era of digital disruption," he said.

He conveyed that the use of AI in the cultural and artistic sectors had been carried out by a number of countries in the European Union and its implementation was expanded in public spaces.
