Six People Died As A Result Of Suicide Bombing Near Afghanistan's Ministry Of Foreign Affairs

JAKARTA - At least six civilians were killed in a suicide attack at a security checkpoint leading to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Afghan capital on Monday, according to police.

"At Malik Asghar Square... a suicide striker before reaching the target was identified at a checkpoint and killed, the explosives exploded," Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.

Zadran added that a number of people were also injured in the explosion, including three members of the Taliban's security forces.

Furthermore, Zadran did not mention the target of the suicide bombing. However, the explosion occurred in a busy central city area, precisely at a security checkpoint that led to a strictly guarded road, because it contained a number of government buildings, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Director of a nearby emergency hospital managed by an Italian NGO said it had 12 injured patients and two dead.

Monday's incident occurred around lunch hour, where the city was very busy along with government office employees returning early during Ramadan.

Kabul and other urban areas have been hit by several attacks in recent months, some of which are claimed by ISIS militants.

An explosion in January killed at least five people and injured dozens of people at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as employees left the building at the end of their working day.

Meanwhile, the Taliban government said it was focused on securing the country, carrying out several raids on suspected ISIS members in recent weeks.
