NTT Governor Viktor Laiskodat And Deputy Governor Of COVID-19 Are Positive

KUPANG - The Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat tested positive for COVID-19. Viktor Laiskodat is currently undergoing treatment at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital Jakarta.

NTT Provisni Regional Secretary Benediktus Polo Maing said the NTT Governor was in good condition.

"Physically healthy, there is nothing extraordinary, but he chose to isolate himself in the hospital," he said, Wednesday, January 13.

He explained that Governor Viktor Laiskodat was originally scheduled to return to Kupang today. However, he failed to return home because the results of the examination on Tuesday, January 12 showed that he was positive for the corona virus that causes COVID-19.

Benediktus said the NTT Governor was suspected of contracting COVID-19 while in Jakarta because before traveling to Jakarta on Friday (8/1) he underwent an examination and the results showed he was not infected with the corona virus.

"The result was negative, so he went to Jakarta for official business," he said.

Previously, NTT Deputy Governor Josef Nae Soi announced on January 11 that he was positive for COVID-19.

Because the driver and his aide were positive for COVID-19, after accompanying the Governor of NTT to open a vaccination training activity on Thursday, January 7, Josef Nae Soi returned to his official residence and then asked laboratory staff to carry out an antigen check.

The results of the examination indicated that he was infected with the coronavirus, therefore on Friday, January 8, he underwent an examination of an airway swab specimen to detect transmission of COVID-19. The results of the examination indicated that he was infected with the corona virus.
