Rechecking The Crime Scene, Irregularities In Bripka Arfan Saragih Committing Suicide With Cyanide Are Investigated

Re-processing the crime scene of the death of Bripka Arfan Saragih in Simullop Hamlet, Siogung Ogung Village, Pangururan District, Samosir Regency/DOC Public Relations of North Sumatra Police

SAMOSIR - The Regional Police of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) is investigating the case of the death of Bripka Arfan Saragih (AS), who is said to have committed suicide with cyanide poison. The North Sumatra Police checked again where Bripka Arfan, who was involved in the tax embezzlement case, was found in Samosir.

Re-checking the crime scene involved Labfor, Inafis, medicine, and the Head of Labfor. Attorney Bripka Arfan Saragih also took part in re-checking the crime scene on the cliffs in the Simullop Hamlet area, Siogung Ogung Village, Pangururan District, Samosir Regency.

The Labfor team conducted crime scene processing by placing evidence according to the crime scene sketch, observing, taking evidence, and reconstructing the initial to the final condition of the victim until he was found dead. Next, the medical team observed and had a brief discussion with Labfor regarding the results of observations at the crime scene.

"Yes, the team that carried out the crime scene examination from Labfor, Inafis, medicine, Criminal Investigation investigators, and we also invited the lawyer of the late US Bripka who was found to have committed suicide," said the Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi in his statement, Sunday, March 26.

"Re-checking the crime scene as a follow-up to the North Sumatra Police Chief's orders because the handling of the investigation was delegated to the Ditreskrimum so that investigators need to review the initial conditions of the crime scene," he added.

The Forensic Code of Medicine team will analyze the results of the post-mortem on the causes of death of the US Bripka that have been issued. The team also checked whether there were any clues at the location for forensic examination such as bloodstains, and remaining solid or liquid evidence.

"The team also conducted an in-depth study of the crime scene regarding the description of the incident and the victim's position from the beginning until the final position was found. As well as calculating the distance between objects and victims as well as the degree of slope of the terrain at the crime scene location," said Hadi.

The North Sumatra Police previously withdrew the case of the death of Bripka Arfan Saragi, a member of the Samosir Police Traffic Unit, who served at the Pangururan Samsat. The handling of the case was withdrawn after the family of the deceased met the North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General RZ Panca Putra Simanjuntak.

The family objected, Bripka Arfan was declared a suicide on February 6. Bripka Arfan was found dead after embezzling taxpayer money of around IDR 2.5 billion at Samsat Samosir UPT Pangururan.

Although the digital expert team and the forensic team have explained the cause of Bripka Arfan's death some time ago at the Samosir Police Headquarters, the family has not accepted it.

Later, the family who felt Arfan's death was odd reported it to the North Sumatra Police Headquarters. North Sumatra Police formed a special team to handle this case.

"The regional police chief ensures that the process for handling cases that are currently being withdrawn by the North Sumatra regional police is transparent and open," said Kombes Hadi.
