Two Mosque Pilgrims In Agam West Sumatra Died Covered In Landslides

JAKARTA - Two congregation members of the Nurul Iklas Mosque, Kampuan Baruah, Joronggangan, Nagari Sungai Landia, Agam Regency, West Sumatra died when they were buried by landslides while in a mosque toilet, Saturday morning at around 06.15 WIB.

"One person was found dead at the location and another critical but eventually died when he arrived at the Puskesmas. They were hit by landslide material that hit the mosque," said Head of the Agam Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPPD) Bambang Warsito in Lubukbasung, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 25. He said the first victim was Yanti (45) who was found by a joint team and residents around 07.40 WIB. "The victim was found dead and immediately taken to the funeral home to be buried. The funeral is waiting for his family," he said.

Meanwhile, the second victim was Darliana (70) and was evacuated to the Ampekkoto Health Center at 06.45 WIB.

Arriving at the Puskesmas, the victim breathed his last and is currently buried at the funeral of his people. He said the landslide hit the mosque's toilet after sinking on the shoulder of the 15 meter long road due to high rainfall hit the area. When a landslide occurred, two residents who were worshipers at dawn were in the toilet. Hearing this condition, residents tried to provide help to the victim and only evacuated Darliana.

Meanwhile, one other victim was not found, so residents reported the incident to the local BPBD at 07.20 WIB. "Getting the report, I deployed members of the BPBD Task Force to look for victims," he said. He admitted that the rainfall was quite high, causing trees to fall in Malabua, Nagari Bawang, Ampeknagari District. After that the tree fell on the terrace of the Feri house (47), a resident of Sungai Jariang, Nagari Lubukbasung, Lubukbasung District.
