Follow The Direction Of The National Police Chief, Polda Metro Sita 535 Bal Used Clothes And 57 Illegal HPs

Polda Metro Jaya revealed the practice of importing used clothes in the Jakarta area. A total of 535 balpres used clothes were secured from suppliers.

"We managed to uncover that there were 535 sacks of balpres or clothes and other used goods," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Auliansyah Lubis, to reporters, Friday, March 24.

The hundreds of balpres are the result of prosecution in several areas of Jakarta. Whether in the process of shipping or stored in warehouses.

Polda Metro has named two suspects in the disclosure of the used clothing business. The first suspect with the initials OW was arrested in Cengkareng, West Jakarta and HM was arrested in Central Jakarta.

Auliansyah revealed that his party had also uncovered an illegal mobile phone smuggling business from China and named JM as a suspect.

"For our own cellphones, we revealed that there were 577 illegal cellphones, then 27 tablets," he said.

In this case, the suspects OW and HM were charged with law number 11 of 2008 concerning transactions and electronic information, Law Number 7 of 2014 concerning Trade. Then, the Law on Consumer Protection.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ordered all ranks of the National Police to take firm action against the practice of smuggling imported used clothes or Thrifting which is now rife in the market.

This was in response to President Joko Widodo's outrage over the import of used clothes that disrupted the domestic textile industry.

"Regarding the President's instructions, I have instructed the ranks to carry out an examination," said Sigit.
