West Sumatra Governor (West Sumatra) Mahyeldi hopes that the central government will reconsider the ban on breaking the fast together (Bukber) issued by the Cabinet Secretariat during Ramadan 1444.

"In my opinion, it needs to be considered again," said West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 24.

Mahyeldi said that with the issuance of a letter numbered R-38 / Seskab / DKK / 03/2023 issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, it raised questions from the public.

Considerations about the prohibition should be carried out so as not to cause an inappropriate perception or view from the public towards the government.

Moreover, he continued, on various occasions both the heads of state, governors, regents and mayors can be said to be no longer wearing masks. In fact, abroad people who use masks are actually the immigration process for a long time.

When asked whether the Governor of West Sumatra and his staff would follow the circular for the prohibition of breaking the fast together, the former Mayor of Padang said that until now he had not received the letter numbered R-38 / Seskab / DKK / 03/2023.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung emphasized that the letter numbered R-38 / Seskab / DKK / 03/2023 issued by the Cabinet Secretariat related to the prohibition of breaking the fast together was only addressed to ministers / government officials.

The second point is that the provisions in the letter do not apply to the general public, so that the public is still given the freedom to do or hold breaking the fast together.

Third, according to him, what is no less important is that currently the state civil apparatus, government officials are getting very sharp attention from the public.
