SOUTH KALIMANTAN - Basarnas Banjarmasin utilizes underwater detectors, aka aquaies, in an effort to search for victims of drowning in Tapin River, Bungur District, Tapin Regency, South Kalimantan (Kalsel).

"The victim on behalf of Darsyah (55) was found at 11.58 WITA or less than 1x24 hours after being reported drowned on Saturday (March 18) at 15.00 WITA," said K Basarnas Banjarmasin Al Amrad in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, Sunday, March 19, quoted by Antara.

He explained that Aquayes works like a radar that can detect objects up to a depth of 30 meters underwater.

Considering that most of the help in Indonesia, including in South Kalimantan, is the search for people drowning in the waters, Basarnas relies heavily on this sophisticated tool which has been proven successful in every SAR operation.

In the search for Darsyah's victim, Basarnas led by Duwi Agustono as field coordinator dispatched a team carrying a number of equipment, namely rubber boats, water SAR equipment, aquaies, navigation equipment as well as medical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).

All joint SAR teams in the field are trying to search for victims optimally by utilizing technology and cohesiveness.

Basarnas divided into two search teams to comb through the Tapin river flow approximately 2 kilometers downstream from the point where the last victim reportedly drowned using a rubber boat.

The joint SAR team also deployed personnel to conduct observations on land and disseminate information on the incident of the victim's drift to local residents.

"Thanks to the solid synergy, we finally found the victims, I would like to thank all the SAR elements involved and hopefully we will always be compact and solid for humanity," said Amrad.
