A total of 19 tourist villages in Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) managed to qualify for the top 500 category of the 2023 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI).

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno in the announcement of the top 500 ADWI 2023 on his social media @kemenparekraf.ri, visited in Kendari, Sunday, said that ADWI 2023 was attended by 4,573 tourist villages throughout Indonesia.

"ADWI participants since 2021 have very high enthusiasm and are full of consistency from people throughout Indonesia," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 19.

He explained that the villages participating in the ADWI event had had a significant economic impact on local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

He said that the selection until it managed to enter the top 500 ADWI category was carried out strictly and had to go through several stages of selection with various aspects of assessment.

"ADWI 2023 has reached the curation stage, based on the jury's assessment of five categories of classification assessments of tourist villages and complete data through the Tourism Village Networking website (Jadesta)," he explained.

Sandiaga Uno said that with the entry of 500 tourist villages, it could make this a motivation to continue developing the village.

"Congratulations to the top 500 of the 2023 ADWI tourist village. Make this achievement a motivation to continue to develop quality and sustainable tourist villages for Indonesia to rise," he said.

He hopes that villages that have not passed will continue to develop innovation, adaptation, and collaboration through data filling on the Jadesta page.
