PASER - The Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) of Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, raised funds and provided urgent health services for flood victims in Long Kali and Muara Komam sub-districts.
"Today we are starting to open donations, tomorrow we will hand over logistics to public kitchens and conduct initial health assessments for flood victims," said IDI Paser Chairman Dr. Hadiwijaya as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 17.
He said the assistance that was handed over later was early stage assistance, considering that the current conditions were quite urgent while donations were continuing.

In distributing logistics to public kitchens, district IDI administrators coordinate with local sub-district IDI, so they just need to distribute aid because local IDI knows the conditions in the field.
The health assessment, said Hadiwijaya, was carried out to determine public health conditions before being given medical assistance.
"Generally, people affected by flooding are vulnerable to diarrhea, skin disease, and respiratory tract infections," he said.
According to him, the health assessment of flood victims was carried out first, after that medical assistance went to the field.
Hadiwijaya also said that during this social action activity, IDI Paser did not open a health service post.
"We provide more frequent mobile services because it is easier to move, can reach remote residents and we hope that health posts will be established by the Health Office and Health Center," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Paser Ruslan Regency said that due to the high rainfall that occurred in the past week, floods in 15 villages in the Muara Komam and Long Kali sub-districts, Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.
There are seven villages in Muara Komam District and eight villages in Long Kali District that were flooded.
"As a result of the monitoring, flooding in Muara Komam Subdistrict continues to move from upstream to downstream. Of the seven villages affected by the flood, five villages were isolated," said Ruslan.
The five villages isolated by the flood included Swan Slutung Village, Long Sayo, Muara Payang, Prayon, and Muara Kuaro Village.
