Strong Name Of Candidate For Chief Of Police Circulating, Mahfud: Still Guessing Jackfruit Fruit

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam), Mahfud MD, confirmed that the name of one of the candidates for Chief of Police circulating to replace General Idham Azis is still speculation. This is because President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has not yet sent a replacement name for the National Police Chief to the DPR.

"The name of the National Police candidate circulating in the media is still guessing about the jackfruit alias speculation. Until now, the President has not sent the name of the National Police Chief candidate to the DPR," Mahfud was quoted as saying on his Twitter account @mohmahfudmd, Tuesday, January 12.

Mahfud said that currently no one knows the figure chosen by Jokowi. The reason is that Jokowi is still carefully considering who will be the leader of the Indonesian National Police.

"No one knows who our candidate for Chief of Police is because the President is still carefully considering who is most suitable for the post," he wrote.

In addition, Mahfud also said that choosing Jokowi officials had a unique way. Usually, Jokowi will ask for several documents containing the names of each candidate.

Later, one of the documents will be signed. Meanwhile, the rest will be destroyed immediately.

"The typical way the President often chooses officials is asking for 5 drafts of proposal containing different names," he said.

"At the right time, he signed one of them while the unsigned draft letter was destroyed. So no one knows except after it was officially announced," he continued.

Meanwhile, one of the names predicted to be appointed by Jokowi as the National Police Chief, namely, Kabareskrim Polri, Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Listyo is said to be a strong candidate to replace General Idham Azis because of his close relationship with Jokowi. This closeness was when Listyo served as the Solo Police Chief in 2011, at which time Jokowi was still Mayor of Solo.

Then, the closeness between the two continued when Jokowi became President, in 2014. At that time Listyo was appointed to be his adjutant.

Previously it was reported, Mahfud MD explained the names of the five Commissioner Generals (Komjen) who were recommended to serve as Chief of Police. Those who are considered the most eligible.

"These five Komjen Pol were proposed to the President by Kompolnas to be selected as candidates for the National Police Chief. Gatot Edy Pramono, Boy Rafli Amar, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Arief Sulistyanto, Agus Andrianto," Mahfud was quoted as saying on his Twitter account, Friday, January 8.

These five three-star generals are considered the most suitable to serve as the National Police Chief. This is because they have a good track record and achievements in the Police.

"The five people are deemed to have met the requirements of professionalism, loyalty, flight hours," he said.
