JAKARTA - The main road connecting Wonosobo Regency with Kebumen Regency, Central Java, collapsed along 20 meters, with a depth of about 5 meters in Trimulyo Village, precisely in front of the Wadaslintang Koramil, Wonosobo.

Danramil 12 / Wadaslintang Lettu CPL Tulus Widodo said the Wadaslintang-Prembun highway collapsed at around 04.45 WIB.

As a result of this incident the Wadaslintang-Prembun road was completely cut off and could not be passed by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles.

He mentioned earlier that the area had rained quite high since Monday, January 11 afternoon. Next to the collapsed road is a fairly deep valley.

The condition under the road that collapsed and landslides was the residents' rice fields.

Tulus conveyed that in connection with the cut off, the traffic flow was diverted through the Kaliwiro-Mendono-Gumler-Besuki-Tirip-Wadaslintang alternative road.

However, he said, the alternative road is quite narrow for large vehicles such as buses or trucks and it is hoped that it will not pass through these roads because it can create congestion.

According to him, large vehicles going to Kebumen are diverted to Banjarnegara via Gandulekor.

He appealed to the public not to get close to the landslide location or the subsidence road, it is feared that it could cause even bigger landslides.

"Moreover, it still rains frequently, it is hoped that the community will always be aware that landslides can occur again," said Tulus in Wonosobo, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, January 12.
