KRI Teluk Mentawai-959 Prepared For Sj-182 Sriwijaya Air Debris Transport

JAKARTA - The Commander of Fleet I Command, Rear Admiral TNI Abdul Rasyid, said that his party was preparing the KRI Teluk Mentawai-959 to lift the large debris of the Sriwijaya Air SJ182 aircraft.

"Debris that divers cannot lift manually, can use the KRI Teluk Mentawai," said Rasyid from KRI Rigel-933 in the waters of Male Island, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 11.

Rasyid explained that the preparation of the warship was according to the command of the TNI commander, to facilitate the evacuation of aircraft debris. During the search, divers used balloons to lift sizable debris over the surface of the water.

"If there is debris that cannot use a balloon, then a crane can be used," explained Rasyid.

KRI Teluk Mentawai-959 is a logistic transport ship in the form of cargo with a dead weight of 1350 tons, has the main task of being a logistics transport ship in its duties as a supporting element of military sea transportation.

In addition, the KRI Teluk Mentawai-959 also contained 11 warships that supported humanitarian operations to search for debris and victims of the Sriwijaya Air SJ182 plane that crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands.

The warships, namely KRI, namely KRI Teluk Gilimanuk, KRI Tjiptadi, KRI Parang, KRI Kurau, KRI Cucut, KRI Rigel, KRI Jhon Lie, KRI RE Martadinata, KRI Ngurah Rai, KRI Malahayati and KRI Leuser.

The Sriwijaya Air plane with registration number PK-CLC with flight number SJ182 on the Jakarta-Pontianak route lost contact on Saturday (9/1) at 14:40 WIB and crashed between Lancang Island and Male Island, Thousand Islands, DKI Jakarta.

The Boeing 737-500 aircraft lost contact at a position 11 nautical miles north of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang after passing an altitude of 11,000 feet and at the time of increasing its altitude at 13,000 feet.

The plane took off from Soekarno Hatta Airport at 14.36 WIB. The schedule is delayed from the previous flight schedule at 13.35 WIB. Departure delay due to weather factors.

Based on manifest data, the aircraft produced in 1994 carried 62 people consisting of 50 passengers and 12 crew members. Of these, 40 adults, seven children, three babies. Meanwhile, the 12 crew consists of six active crews and six extra crews.
