Muhaimin Not Worried About Prabowo And Ganjar's Meeting

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar is not worried about the confinement of Gerindra General Chair Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo.

"There is no problem, all political communication processes are normal," he said, quoting Antara, Sunday, March 12.

This was conveyed by Muhaimin in response to media questions related to Prabowo and Ganjar's intimacy while accompanying President Joko Widodo on a working visit in Kebumen, Central Java, Thursday, March 9.

According to him, the closeness of national figures is very important for the consolidation of democracy. So that all political processes run in a conducive, respectful and respectful manner.

"Ganjar's meeting with Prabowo each has the potential to compete is a very positive meeting," he asserted.

He said, the Greater Indonesia Awakening (KIR) coalition that was built by PKB and Gerindra remained solid and continued to move. He emphasized that the matter of political communication with anyone was part of the process to finalize and strengthen the coalition.

In addition, the coalition has made a commitment that the decision on which presidential and vice presidential candidates to be promoted will be discussed by party leaders.

"We have committed, the final decision is me and Mr. Prabowo," said Muhaimin.

Based on the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
