JAKARTA - The United States Army is currently investigating the involvement of its members in the riots on Capitol Hill, when the US Congress held a session to discuss the US Presidential Election which was won by Joe Biden, Wednesday, January 6.

Launching Al Jazeera from the Associated Press, the Commander of Fort Bragg Military Base in North Carolina, ordered an examination of Captain Emily Rainey who was said to be involved in the riots on Capitol Hill.

Rainey is a US Army Psychological Operations Specialist officer. He is suspected of leading a group of people from North Carolina to protest on Capitol Hill.

However, Rainey said he and his group acted according to military regulations and that no one in their group broke the law.

"I am a citizen who does everything right and according to my rights," said Rainey.

Rainey said he led 100 people in Moore County, as a form of democratic freedom to fight "election fraud" while supporting President Donald Trump.

He also said his group participated in the demonstration but did not know who entered Capitol Hill. And they returned just before the emergency curfew was enforced.

US Army's 1st Special Forces Command spokesman Major Daniel Lessard said Rainey was assigned to the 4th Psychological Operations Group at Fort Bragg.

This group, known as PSYOPS, uses information and misinformation to shape emotions, decisions and actions against the enemy of the United States.

Previously, Rainey had made the news because of his online video broadcast of lifting the sign for the ban on a theme park that was closed due to COVID-19 restrictions in North Carolina in May 2020.
