KUPANG - Chairperson of the Child Protection Agency (LPA) of East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) Veronika Ata said the school policy at 5.30 WITA was prone to triggering sexual violence practices in children or students so that his party firmly rejected the policy. "We firmly reject the school entry policy at 5.30 am because it does not represent the best interests of children, one of which makes them in a condition prone to sexual violence," said Veronika, quoted by ANTARA on Friday, March 10. He said it was related to the implementation of the school entry policy at 5.30 WITA which was imposed by the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Education and Culture Office against 10 high school/SMK in Kupang City. Varonika said that this policy requires students to go to school before 5.30 WITA in a still dark day condition. On the other hand, transportation is not available for most students and many students who have been to school on foot. "This condition places students especially girls who are prone to being victims of sexual violence," he said. He said, this policy contrasts with the government's spirit along with various elements of preventing and protecting children from sexual violence practices. Veronika mentions other detrimental effects such as rest time disturbed children make children sleepy in schools and do not follow the teaching process effectively. Students can also stress and learn enthusiasm decrease. According to him, there is no disciplinary correlation and child intelligence by entering school at 5.30 am. The form of discipline as a pretext of this policy, he said, is something that is made-made and personal thinking without a mature study. "Therefore, we firmly reject this policy because it Hurts students, as well as parents, and teachers, even disturbing the community," he said.

Veronika added that his party also did not agree with the implementation of the policy under the pretext of preparing students to enter well-known universities such as the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, or abroad. "The quality of a person is not measured from his university graduates. Many university alumni other than those who are said to have excellent qualifications," he said.
