Social Service: Rohingya Refugees In UPTD Social Aceh Must Be Relocated

ACEH - Aceh Social Service (Dinsos) hopes that hundreds of Rohingya refugees who are currently temporarily placed in the UPTD Rumoh Seujahtera Beujroh Meukarya Ladong Tuna Social will have to be relocated immediately considering that the inmates will re-enter. "Because this is a necessity, it must be relocated immediately, because it is possible for our foster children to enter after Lebaran (Idulfitri)," said Head of the Aceh Social Service, Yusrizal, in Banda Aceh, Antara, Friday, March 10. Yusrizal said that so far his party had discussed the relocation of the refugees with the Overseas Refugee Handling Task Force (PPLN). It's just that there is no certainty about where they are transferred. Based on the last discussion, said Yusrizal, for the alternative, they will be temporarily transferred to the Pidie Regency area along with other refugees. This is indeed in Aceh Besar District where a representative place has not been found. So the solution is combined with immigrants in Pidie Regency. "The alternatives, including those in Pidie, have been combined with them. But they do not rule out other places as well. Of course, we will wait for the results of the PPLN Task Force meeting," he said. Yusrizal emphasized that their transfer needs to be accelerated because children assisted at the Aceh Social Tuna UPTD will soon return to their activities. So they also need this facility. "Their relocation does need to be accelerated because this is indeed a necessity for foster children," said Yusrizal. To note, currently at the UPTD Rumoh Seujahtera Beujroh Meukarya Ladong Tuna Sosial Service Aceh currently accommodates as many as 310 Rohingya immigrants (one person died). They were put there from three waves. First, as many as 57 people were stranded in Aceh Besar on December 25, 2022, then the addition of 184 people who had just landed yesterday afternoon (8/1) on the coast of the Great Aceh Besar Mosque. Then, 69 people were added who had just stranded on Thursday, February 16, 2023 in the Lampanah Leungah beach area, Seulimeum Aceh Besar District. So that the current total accommodated in the Ladong Social Tuna UPTD reaches 309 immigrants.
