Print a New Record, Olivia Rodrigo's Third Album Takes the Top Spot on the Billboard 200

JAKARTA - Olivia Rodrigo has proven her fangs again. Her third studio album titled "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love" debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart.

This achievement marks the success of the three in a row after the album "Sour" in 2021 and "Guts" in 2023 also successfully topped the same album chart.

Since its official release on June 12, Rodrigo's new album has immediately soared with fantastic sales. Launching official data from Billboard, the album bagged the equivalent of 485,000 album units in the United States in its first week.

The figure not only became the highest weekly sales record in the 23-year-old soloist's solo career, but also the largest sales in a week for a solo album this year.

This success was driven by the release strategy of 15 physical variants, where the sale of black discs alone contributed a very massive figure, reaching 164,000 units.

As is known, before this album was released, Olivia Rodrigo had stolen the spotlight with the single "drop dead" which successfully topped the charts, followed by "The Cure" which perched in fifth place.

Interestingly, "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love" is the only new album to break into the top 10 of the Billboard 200 this week.

The presence of this album also shifted Drake's position with his album "Iceman" which had to fall to second place after having been in power for four consecutive weeks.

Following in the next position, there is Ella Langley with "Dandelion" in third place, Morgan Wallen with "I'm the Problem" in fourth place, and Noah Kahan with "The Great Divide" closing the top five.

This success is certainly a big capital for Olivia Rodrigo before she starts a world tour series titled Unraveled on September 25 in Hartford, Connecticut, before continuing her journey to Europe.
